Members enjoying a nice day out

A jolly ramble

The WI is a diverse organisation open to all.   Becoming a Member gives you an opportunity to meet new friends and experience a wide range of activities.

Wychbury WI, based in Pedmore,  was formed 57 years ago and has a current membership of 60. We have continually adapted and evolved into the successful and enthusiastic WI we are today.   We meet together each month to enjoy demonstrations, film shows and talks on a variety of subjects given by recommended speakers.

In addition to our Monthly meetings, members can attend other Group activities which include Art;  Craft;  Poetry;  Produce(cookery);  Rambling;  Luncheon Club;  Book Club and Skittles. The focus is always on "Friendship & Fun". For more details on each Group please look at our Monthly Activities pages.

Like many WI, through the lockdown we at Wychbury WI kept in touch… Members of the committee each phoned 5/6 members fortnightly. At Christmas 2020 each member got a doorstep visit from their committee member, a Christmas card and some chocolates, just to keep our spirits up!

When the regulations began to ease, although we couldn’t meet as a whole unit, our smaller groups began to meet in gardens – one group had to split in two to meet but, hey, they did it! Another group took folding chairs and a picnic lunch to the local park…. They were determined.

At last in August 2021 we held our usual August garden meeting and about 25 ladies met. They brought their own refreshments but tea was provided!

In September rules allowed us to meet once again as a WI – chairs were spaced out, we didn’t sing Jerusalem because of the aerosol particle !!! masks were worn but we met for a talk by Annaliese Jones for a great talk about handbags made in the Philippines.

We continue to meet and our talks cover a wide range of subjects from Laurel and Hardy to the Aurora Borealis via the English Civil War in our locale.

We are beginning to arrange our usual outside meeting events which we hope will include a celebration for the Queens Platinum Jubilee (I feel some fancy hats coming on), trips to local theatres and maybe a trip to Windsor Castle.

We also continue in our support of a nearby women’s refuge and our local Hospice when we can. is part of the Hagley Group of WI's within the Worcestershire Federation and even further activities can be enjoyed via the Group or by attending Federation events which include Performing Arts;  Public Affairs;  Science and even holidays in the UK and abroad.

We usually meet on the 3rd Wednesday of each month at 7.30 pm, so please come along. Visitors are entitled to attend 2 meetings before joining.  See Contact Us for details of the venue.   The Annual Subscription for 2022 is £44  This includes 10 issues of  the "WI Life" magazine.

Welcome to all Members and Visitors
